Ringing

Water Rail
Despite slightly windy conditions we decided to give ringing at the reedbed a go this morning. There were lots of finches around the feeders and we ended up catching a number of Goldfinch and several Lesser Redpoll.

On recent visit's the number of Water Rails present seemed to be going up each week so I dusted off the Potter Traps and purchased some tins of Sardine's and decided it was time to try and catch one or two. Once the nets were all up I whizzed round and put the traps in likely looking spts and on the next net round bingo! A corking Water Rail which was the first one ringed at the site! You have got to love it when a plan comes together.
