Arlington Reservoir - Patch Ticks!

                Red-breasted Merganser

A walk around Glynde Levels proved unsuccessful and it looked like the day was going to be a damp squib...literally. This until I got a text from Andrew and Ian informing me of 3 Red-breasted Mergansers at the res! Legged it back from the Reach and was soon at the patch. Whilst on route the boys also found a Scaup...! Two potential patch ticks with reach! Excuse the pictures...camera is still broken and the light was pants so they are all taken on the phone.

                  Scaup (1st winter drake)

Soon enough I was looking at no less than 3 Red-breasted Mergs and in the same field of view the first winter drake Scaup! TRUELY amazing...my only other patch tick this year was a Little Tern back in April so these two ticks were most welcome!

Whilst having a good catch up with the lads we had quite a few Lapwing going over heading north and then like London buses another 5 RB Mergs flew in!!! What the hell was going on!

Cheers for the text lads...brilliant few hours on the patch! Also of note after speaking to KG the Scaup present today looks like it was the same bird he had at West Rise yesterday.
