The Big Dipper

Desert Wheatear - Rattray Head, Aberdeenshire
I decided to try and twitch the long staying Pine Grosbeak on Shetland with Matt and John. It had been on Shetland since November and seemed to be frequenting a small number of pine plantations in the North Collafirth area of the mainland. We flew in to Aberdeen and then planned to get the overnight boat to Lerwick and then return on the overnight ferry back to Aberdeen. This is where it all started to go wrong...! To cut a long story short we dipped...MASSIVELY! There is only one island in Britian further away from my house and I managed to go there and dip! This now surpasses my previous best dip which was the White-throated Robin in Cleveland.

Any here a few pics from the trip. Many thanks to Dave for the airport runs and Matt and John for the company, laughs and shoulder to cry on!
